Do you feel that your style of playing tennis has stagnated? You might be winning the easy matches but still unable to defeat the player with whom you have played at least 15 times in the last three years and lost. Don’t worry, friend. We are here with some excellent tips to improve your tennis game.
Watch The Ball While You Hit It In A Tennis Game
This may sound absurd and tough to do for a while but trust me, it is something great for players who have lost their game due to lack of practice. Now your someone who has the tennis hidden inside somewhere and wants to take it out, this one thing will immensely help you. Once you slowly start to get your groove back, you can move your eyes away from the ball once in a while but only after you get your basic game back. This will help reduce errors and improve top-spin.
Tennis Game: Practice More
Play matches for leisure whenever you want but you have to hit at least 300+ shots per day and 50+ serves per day. The 300 shots can be divided equally into forehand, backhand, and volley, while the serves should be divided into a ratio of 1:2 for first to second, serves respectively since having a good second serve wins you matches.
Intent= 100% | Hesitance = 0%
Don’t hesitate while playing, since your playing to improve right now and not to win, don’t be afraid of hitting your shots. Take a full follow-through while executing your shots. I know you will hesitate because of lack of confidence in your game but trust me, you can only get your confidence back if you try your shots again. For example, in my case, I sometimes hesitate to use my One-handed backhand and end up slicing my shots but I realized that when I hit them without hesitation, even though I do commit errors, but they are very less and my shots turn out well and very fast. So, hesitate less and apply what you learned from practice.
Your technique has to be good in order to play well and stay injury-free. Either ask someone to check your technique ( it has to be someone who knows well about tennis game.dont just ask anyone for vague tips, vague tips can be fatal for your game) or refer to a video on the net. All YouTubers who teach tennis are great but you will benefit only if you follow one person and not all. Choose one online coach and see all his video at the rate of around one per day. I suggest you refer to TOM AVERY TENNIS on youtube, he is damn good! The technique has to be very good, especially your serve and backhand since forehand is something which is easy, I suggest you refer to a coach for technique.
Here are a few examples of BAD TECHNIQUE
- Your arms are too close to your chest while hitting which result in you having to cramp for space.
- Wrists are hurting or vibrations are troubling.
- Shots going long very frequently.
